What is the difference between fused magnesia and magnesium oxide

Light-fired magnesia is made of natural magnesite, which is purified by flotation, light burning, fine grinding, ball pressing and calcined by high temperature oil shaft kiln. It is a brick - making and indeterminate refractory. Electrofused magnesia is made of light burning magnesia, calcined by pressing ball and high temperature shaft kiln, with magnesium content of 97%. The product has good sintering degree and good crystallization function. It is the raw material of medium grade magnesium refractory products for consumption. Electrofused magnesia, also known as fused magnesia, is not only used as a refractory material for high-tech commodities, but also used in the power industry, aerospace industry and nuclear industry. Compared with sintered magnesia, high quality natural magnesia and light burning magnesia are mostly used in electric fusion. The melt is heated and melted in a high temperature arc furnace, and the melt cools naturally.

The main crystal phase of magnesium oxide is easily crystallized from the melt. The crystal growth is super, the crystal is thick, the direct bonding degree is high, and the structure is fine. The high temperature structural strength, slag resistance and room temperature hydration properties of sintered magnesia are better than those of sintered magnesia under oxidizing atmosphere. The high activity nanometer electrofused magnesia can be sintered at low temperature without sintering aid to prepare fine ceramics or multifunctional magnesium oxide films, and is expected to develop into materials under harsh conditions such as high temperature and high corrosion. Because of its high activity and high dispersion, can even be made into fibrous magnesium oxide, especially good with polymer or other materials composite. The material has a strong microwave absorption ability, while not reducing the strength and durability of raw materials, participate in the use of fibrous magnesium oxide, has a strengthening effect.

The ultrafine powders of light magnesium oxide can also be used as sintering aid and shaking agent for nanoparticles such as zirconia, alumina and ferric oxide to obtain high quality nano-phase ceramics. There will be a lot of use of fused magnesia in our life and consumption.
